New Zealand 49-28 Australia
New Zealand continued their magnificent start to the 2010 Tri-Nations with a comprehensive 21-point defeat of Australia in Melbourne on Saturday morning.
Both sides exchanged early penalties before Drew Mitchell grabbed the first try of the game for the Wallabies, charging down Dan Carter’s kick and touching down in the corner.
Carter atoned for his error immediately with a try of his own for New Zealand and the All Blacks had a bonus point on the board at half-time with further tries from Mils Muliaina, Richie McCaw and Corey Jane easing them into a commanding 32-14 lead at the break.
Muliaina, Joe Rokococo and Corey Flynn touched down for New Zealand in the second half to make it seven tries in total for Graham Henry’s side. Rocky Elsom and Adam Ashley Cooper touched down for the Wallabies, who had Drew Mitchell sent off for two yellow card offences.
The sides meet again in Christchurch next Saturday.
