What will Ronnie O’Sullivan do next? That’s the big question as he begins his world championship campaign today.
Two weeks the Rocket attempted to pull out of the World Snooker Championships but changed his mind when asked for written confirmation of his withdrawal and will play Dominic Dale in his opening match in the competition today.
O’Sullivan, currently ranked number ten in the world, failed to win his first round matches at the UK Championship, Masters, Welsh Open and China Open, and hasn’t won a major ranking event since September.
The 35-year-old was reported to be seeing a psychiatrist in order to regain his appetite for the game and all eyes will be on the star at Sheffield today.
Mark Williams, who defeated his fellow Welshman Ryan Day 10-5 on Sunday, has no doubt the three-time winner O’Sullivan could sweep aside all competition.
“If he turns up and gives it 100%, for me he’s the one to beat,” Williams said.
“But in the last two tournaments he has turned up, Ryan [Day] has spanked him twice, and Dominic’s not going to be an easy game for him.”
