The Aussies are well known for their sense of humour, which can only explain their Lions XV selection they posted at the weekend.

The official Wallabies Facebook page had been posting a Lions team after each round of games in the Six Nations, and the overall Team of the Tournament was based with their weekly teams in mind. If there were more than two players in the same position, they chose the player from the team that finished higher in the Championship. Naturally.
With that in mind, Ireland can be more than pleased with five on the starting team, perhaps a little generous with the campaign we had. Rory Best has the hooker’s jersey, Donnacha Ryan has been included in the second row, Sean O’Brien takes his place in a highly competitive back-row while Luke Marshall and BOD form an all-Irish midfield.
Marshall in particular might count himself fortunate after just 180 minutes in the tournament and two concussions, while the Scots can feel aggrieved that not a single of their players made the cut.
Sam Warbuton and Justin Tipuric don’t feature, and considering the strength of the Welsh pack in the tournament, we would expect more than three Welsh forward to start the first Test in Brisbane.

“Is this wishful thinking or some attempt to be politically correct or are the ARU picking the Lions?” was a justifiable question on the Facebook page.
We will go out on a limb and suggest that the team was picked primarily to stoke the fires, and we would expect that the team that takes to the field in Brisbane will look a little different to this selection.
