Arsenal look set to appoint an Irish man as their strength and conditioning coach

What an opportunity for Barry Solan

What an opportunity for Barry Solan.

One of the biggest criticisms of Arsenal’s campaigns over the last few seasons is that Wenger’s men are usually out of contention for league and European honours after February, but the Gunners might be taking some inspiration from Mayo GAA to fix this problem.

The Mayo News have tweeted a report that claims the FA Cup winners are lining up Mayo’s strength & conditioning coach Barry Solan to join their backroom staff.

This of course wouldn’t be the first time that an Irishman has found himself working at the Emirates in a similar capacity, Jerry Flannery worked with Wenger’s men before taking up a post with Munster when Anthony Foley was appointed.

Solan is a Mayo native and has previously worked with the Polish national team among others.

He’s expected to take up his position at the Emirates when the GAA season is over and here’s hoping that he’s a massive success.
