If anyone questioned Rob Penney’s passion for the Munster job, then an interview on Off the Ball last night should have got rid of any doubts.

Despite winning 33-0 against Edinburgh in the Heineken Cup on Sunday, Penney has been questioned about the team’s approach, with many feeling that the traditional, more direct Munster style is more effective and was responsible for at least three of Munster’s four tries at the weekend.

Off the Ball anchor Eoin McDevitt led with that line of questioning when interviewing Penney last night and Penney delivered a very passionate response which indicated a complete and unwavering belief in the style of play he’s trying to establish with Munster at the moment.

Without wanting to go into much detail and spoil the interview for you, Penney delivers a number of coherent points and backs up his arguments very well. One also gets the feeling that it isn’t the first time he has to address the concerns about the direction Munster are taking under his management.

If you didn’t hear it last night and you’re a Munster fan or even a rugby fan in general, take five minutes from your day to have a listen; it’s well worth it.

Great stuff from Penney and from the always excellent Off the Ball team.
