Leon Best has finally been given the call by Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni – so we can only assume Trap wasn’t listening to this revealing TalkSport interview earlier this week.
Baffled by his omission from the initial squad, unconvinced by Trap’s advice that he has to work harder and not spoken to or heard from anyone in the FAI – it sounds like there’s been a bit of a breakdown in communication somewhere along the line.
He also says he’s confused by the fact that he made it into the squad when he was struggling for form in the Championship, but is surplus to requirements now that he’s playing every week for a team in the top three of the Premier League.
Anyway, all’s well that ends well, it seems, as he’s been added to the squad for next week’s double-header against Estonia.
