BETTING PREVIEW: Ireland’s crunch qualifier against Poland

Can we do it?

JOE

Not many saw that coming, did they?

We’ve defeated the world champions and now a win or a high score draw against Poland will send us through to the European Championships in France next year.

Irish supporters would have bitten your hand off if you offered them a play-off place after the Scotland game, but now most of us will be disappointed if we don’t do it through automatic qualification.

There’s no denying we were brilliant on Thursday, but it’s now time to focus on the Poles.

We are 31/10 to come out on top against Robert Lewandowski and company. If you’re thinking about going against patriotism entirely, you can back Poland to win at 5/6 and the draw at 23/10.

We fancy this game to be a close one and a draw above 1-1 will put us through. However, a goal a piece was the score when the sides played in Dublin and you can back that at 11/2. The 2-2 draw is priced at 16/1 and it’s not inconceivable, considering that the Poles just had that result against Scotland.

Still, us Irish have never been known for our goal-scoring prowess and if we win, we think it’s likely to be a 1-0 game. This scoreline is priced at 9/1. Our bet of the day is a fair bit shorter than that, with us backing the 0-1 goal band at a price of 9/5.

Here’s hoping we can produce something special. COYBIG.
