Martin O’Neill is reportedly poised to leave his role as Ireland manager and return to Leicester City.
A number of four-figure bets have been placed on O’Neill to leave the Republic of Ireland set-up to rejoin the club he managed between 1995 and 2000.
A William Hill spokesperson said: “There are some people out there who seem convinced that O’Neill is very close to getting the job if he hasn’t accepted the role already.”
O’Neill started the day at 10/1 to take on the job but moved to 1/4 before betting was suspended late on Friday morning.
Should O’Neill step away it is widely expected that Roy Keane will step up and become the new Ireland manager, at least on an interim basis.
