BJ Penn has always been an outspoken and controversial figure in the sport of MMA, from falling out with Zuffa, fighting Lyoto Machida at 205lbs to licking blood of his gloves post-fight. Now he has given his thoughts on what could be done to make the sport more exciting.

Penn was recently asked today through a video on his official YouTube account what he thought could be done to make fights more exciting for the fans.

‘The Prodigy’ wasn’t shy in his response, which clearly echoed his own frustrations with the strategy of some current MMA fighters.

His ideas to increase excitement in the sport would seems very unlikely to even be brought under consideration, but make up your own minds.

Penn isn’t the only fighter who has voiced an opinion on changing the unified rules, with Shogun Rua giving a definitive “Yes” when asked whether stomps to a downed opponent should be added.

“I hope for a change in rules. The stomps… my opinion is elbows are more dangerous than stomps,” Rua told ESPN.

Does the Hilo native have a point, is it better to let the fighters “just scrap”? Check out the video below.
