Blackpool have completed the signing of Sunderland and ex-Republic of Ireland international Andy Reid for a fee of £1 million.
Reid lost his place in the Sunderland starting line-up due to a combination of injury and a loss of form and spent much of the season on loan to Championship strugglers Sheffield United.
“It hasn’t quite worked out for him for the last 18 months but we wish him well,” Sunderland Steve Bruce has said.
There has been some speculation that Reid, who Tangerines’ gaffer Ian Holloway describes as a “dinky-do player,” has been headhunted as a replacement for Charlie Adam, but as of yet no offer has been accepted for the Scot.
The fee of £1million is one eighth of what Tottenham paid for Reid when they signed him from Nottingham Forest in 2005.
