The biggest promotion in Irish MMA Cage Contender is to make its return to its native Belfast this coming Saturday, with a co-main event that is grabbing attention internationally.
Cage Contender has been steadily growing since its inception by businessman John Ferguson and is gaining attention internationally like back in February at Cage Contender XII when it featured international mixed martial arts prospect Gunnar Nelson making his comeback to the sport after a year’s hiatus on a card that was broadcast live in Nelson’s native Iceland.
It looks like Cage Contender XIII is trying to keep the momentum going internationally this coming Saturday in King’s Hall Belfast where it will feature the return of UFC alumnus Dean Lister to the cage after an absence of three years to face Antrim’s Rodney Moore.
Moore will have a tough task to beat Lister, as the friend of UFC legend Tito Ortiz (who was interviewed by JOE two weeks ago) has been keeping busy, winning the 2011 ADCC Submission wrestling championship in the under 99kg weight category.
Meanwhile in the other main event Colin “Big C” Robinson takes on another UFC veteran in Neil “Old Skool” Wain in a rematch of their October Cage Contender Heavyweight title bout that Wain won by decision.
Speaking to JOE earlier in the day promoter John Ferguson confirmed that tickets were still available although they’re expecting a sell out crowd on the night with only a limited number of walk-up tickets available.
Check out Dean Lister’s message below to Irish MMA fans and the main card of Cage Contender XIII.
