Signing Alexis Sánchez is all well and good, but if you have to play either Mikel Arteta or Mathieu Flamini as your sitting midfielder then you’re not going to be winning titles.
Finishing second in the group stage to Dortmund is nothing to be ashamed of, but in recent years Arsenal haven’t been able to finish above sides such as Shakhtar, Sevilla and Porto.
After so many years dining at the top table, they simply have to do better…
