Champions League: The week in tweets

Another interesting week

JOE

Real and Atletico couldn’t be separated, Juventus trumped Monaco, PSG were outplayed by Barcelona and Porto stunned Bayern.

All in all, the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals didn’t disappoint.

Here’s how Twitter reacted.

Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid

Real came away with a goalless draw, but most of the discussion after the game revolved around Dani Carvajal possibly biting Atletico striker Mario Mandzukic.

Mandzukic took to Twitter to clear Carvajal of wrong-doing.

He said: “Yesterday’s match was very hard and both teams gave everything, but for me there was no controversy, no bite, or anything.”

Juventus v Monaco

Juventus picked up a 1-0 win over the men from the principality with a controversial penalty. There were a few that weren’t convinced the foul was inside the box.

PSG v Barcelona

Luis Suarez absolutely tormented David Luiz and the PSG defence during Barcelona’s 3-1 win and everyone on Twitter was impressed.

Well, almost everyone.

Porto v Bayern

The result of the week was Porto’s 3-1 win over Bayern. Many couldn’t believe what they were seeing.

So that’s the first legs out of the way. Hopefully the return games will give us some more great moments.
