Check out the Southall Shamrocks…
This unique, all-Asian GAA team was set up by Geography teacher and inspirational Irishman Brendan Doherty at Featherstone High School in West London. In an English school where almost 99 per cent of its 1,500 pupils are from an ethnic minority, Doherty has brilliantly managed to form a team who are now coming to Ireland next week for an exciting three-day tour of some of the country’s GAA hotspots during the school’s half-term break.
We’re not sure if that tour of “GAA hotspots” includes Coppers though…

What we do know, thanks to the Irish Post, is that the lads will visit Croke Park Stadium and Museum on Monday 17th February (provided Garth Brooks doesn’t book another concert date for that night of course), play a game against a Galway school team in Pearse Stadium on Tuesday 18th February and, on Wednesday 19th February, will visit the esteemed Connacht Centre of Excellence in Ballyhaunis in Mayo for a top-class tiring training session.
Keep an eye on JOE.ie next week as we keep up-to-date with the lads’ All-Ireland adventures…
