The trash talking is not a new phenomenon for him…
Conor McGregor made history at the weekend when he defeated Eddie Alvarez in Madison Square Garden to win the UFC lightweight title.
With The Notorious already holding the featherweight crown, it made him the first man in UFC history to hold two belts simultaneously.
In the Octagon afterwards, McGregor was his usual brash self when he proclaimed: “I’ve spent a lot of time, Joe, slating everybody in the company, backstage, I’m starting fights with everybody, I’ve ridiculed the roster.
“I’d like to say from the bottom of my heart, I’d like to take this chance to apologise… to absolutely nobody!
“The double champ does what the fuck he wants!”
This was the latest in a string of verbal barbs, which have been a hallmark of McGregor’s career from his early days in the UFC.
But, it seems that this wasn’t a persona that he adopted in the UFC as part of a plan to promote himself within the organisation, he was like this even in his early days fighting in Cage Rage, Chaos Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors.
A post on Boards.ie from 2011 under the name NOTORIOUS, is believed to be written by McGregor as he calls out opponents in the Irish MMA scene.
Titled “The King is here”, you can imagine him saying it so clearly…
“Dont worry folks i reply to any call out even if it is against a little white guy who thinks he is a big black guy,,,, [sic]
“Conor Dillon that broken foot was the best thing that ever happened to you that night and you know it
You left that ring lookin like your hero snoop dogg, black and blue“Walkin around with a death row records chain around your neck you bum your a five foot nothing pastey white kerry bum you remind me of that donkey Chris ”Menace to absolutly f@@king nothing” Stringer with his bandana on you guys should fight,, winner takes the losers 2pac posters
“Im after the real gold a belt that no irish man has ever won and dont say paul mcveigh has won it he is as scottish as the loch ness monster
“On another note vote for me for fighter of the year how can you not the busiest fighter this year 4 second ko’s ,16 second ko’s, broken orbital bones, broken jaws, broken noses, fighters retired,, 100 per cent knockout
ratio what other guy in the country is doing this“EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM ARE RUNNING SCARED
EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!!”
The post centres around calling fighter Conor Dillon for a rematch after a broken foot in their first match led to Dillon being unable to continue the fight.
Our favourite line has to be, “he is as Scottish as the Loch Ness monster.”
Conor McGregor hasn’t changed much in the last five years, although he’s come a long way from fighting on the local circuit in Ireland.
