Conor McGregor’s next fight looks set to be at UFC 205

This is going to be huge…

It’s been rumoured for weeks now and it looks close to being confirmed that Conor McGregor will fight at UFC 205 in November.

The card will be historic as it will be the first UFC event in New York since the state legalised the sport  of MMA back in April, and just eight weeks out, the card is yet to have an official main event.

Yesterday it was announced that Tyron Woodley would defend his welterweight title against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson at the event on November 12, but it’s not yet known if that will be the main event.

Step forward Conor McGregor, who looks set to face lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the main event on the card.

It’s said that both parties want the fight with the main stumbling block the little matter of McGregor holding the featherweight belt and currently causing somewhat of a backlog in that division.

On his podcast last night, Joe Rogan dropped a heavy hint that it was all sorted out and the fight would take place at Madison Square Garden in eight weeks time.

“I know a little something that I wish I could tell,” Rogan said on the podcast before giving a bit more detail.

“It’s an interesting fight. If it happens… allegedly at Madison Square Garden, allegedly in a couple of months. Maybe it’s going to happen, I don’t know.”

Following UFC 202, UFC President Dana White said that McGregor would either have to defend his featherweight title or relinquish it, before he later rolled back with some softer wording on the subject.
