Leinster’s 17 game undefeated run came to a halt on Sunday evening with a narrow loss to Clermont, but Schmidt returned to discover that his house had been broken into while on Heineken Cup duty.

The New Zealander’s house was broken into via a broken window and the Gardai have confirmed that while property was taken, three men were arrested shortly afterwards while two were charged yesterday in connection to the robbery.

Schmidt has been hugely popular since arriving on these shores, with a winning mentality and down-to-earth manner.

Thankfully those that broke into his home on Sunday have been reprimanded and he is free to concentrate on the return game with Clermont at the Aviva this weekend.
