Dublin GAA Club use topless photos and attractive models to highlight novel fundraising drive

It certainly caught our eye

It certainly caught our eye.

For as long as the GAA has been in existence, clubs throughout the country have had to come up with original ideas to raise funds in order to keep themselves afloat.

The more novel the idea, the more likely it is to attract attention and one club in Dublin have come up with one of the most original fundraising drives we’ve seen in a long, long time.

The Cuala senior hurling team, who count Dublin senior stars such as Mark and Paul Schutte and David Treacy amongst their ranks, are the first GAA club to try crowd funding to get some money together for their Dublin senior championship campaign.

To help highlight the fundraising drive, a number of the Cuala senior team posed for topless pictures in Dalkey along with a couple of attractive models (who, we should point out, weren’t topless).

They’re also looking for supporters to pledge money for dates with players, for training sessions given by their county players, for signed balls and jerseys and much, much more.

According to the pledge page, Cuala estimate that between the cost of transport, facilities, coaching and equipment, that it costs approximately €1,000 a player to run the senior team over the course of the season.

The team are hoping that they will raise €10,000 from the campaign and for more information on it, you can check out the pledge page here and also on the club’s Facebook page.
