Dublin corner-back Peter Kelly has been threatened with a retrospective ban for an incident with Offaly’s Shane Dooley in the National Hurling League.
Kelly pulled on a dropping ball during the match catching Shane Dooley in the process. The son of the Offaly manager was injured, requiring ten stitches and specialist surgery to his ear.
Joe Dooley wasn’t impressed with the incident at the time, saying “I don’t know where the officials were looking at the time that happened. These things happen I suppose, but there’s no ball lying on a fella’s ear when it’s dropping down.”
While Kelly received a yellow card at the time, it has been confirmed that the incident is being investigated by the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).
