The Dublin hurlers have been dealt a massive blow with the news that captain Stephen Hiney is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.
Hiney suffered a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during the Metropolitan’s defeat of Wexford at the weekend as well as damaging cartilage around the joint.
The recovery period for such an injury can be anything from six months to a year and Anthony Daly will have to face up to the prospect of being without Hiney for the entire Championship campaign.
27-year old Hiney has been a key part of the Dublin side so far in the league campaign as Daly’s side have rocketed to the top of Division One after three wins and a draw in their opening four games.
