Newly undisputed super middleweight boxing champion Andre Ward says the best is yet to come after a convincing victory over Carl Froch in this morning’s Super Six final.

Ward was a unanimous choice of the three judges at ringside after the 12-round bout in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

One judge gave Ward an eight-point win (118-110) over “The Cobra”, while the other two scored the fight 115-113, although that margin of victory was slimmer than most observers felt – ESPN, for instance, had Andre Ward ten rounds ahead at the finish (119-109) and it was generally accepted that the 2004 Olympic champion had given a masterclass in technical boxing.

The bout brought an end to a two-year cycle of Super Six fights and it was a satisfying conclusion for organisers Showtime, with a unified super-middleweight champion of the world in Ward, who lifted the WBA and WBC belts as well as the Ring magazine championship.

After the fight Ward vowed that he still has improvement to come, an enticing prospect for all boxing fans going into 2012.
