Football: JOE’s top five worst dives

Joe looks at the five most disgraceful dives in football.

JOE

The jury is out on Javier Hernandez’s penalty claim against Newcastle this week. Was it or wasn’t it a spot kick? The Mexican looked to take full advantage of Danny Simpson’s lingering left foot, however, instead of winning the pen, the Manchester United striker was booked for simulation.

Here at JOE, we thought it was a fairly tame incident, so we decided to look for the most outlandish acts of cheating ever to be seen in the game.

Here are JOE’s top five football dives:

Morten Gamst Pedersen

The Norwegian striker looked stunned as his crazy attempt at winning a penalty was waved away by the referee. Even Gary Lineker had to laugh at this one.

Dida

The AC Milan keeper was lucky to come away with his life after a brutal attack from this Celtic fan. The tickling of his cheek was unbearable.

Rivaldo

One of the most iconic moments of bad sportsmanship, Rivaldo looked like he had been shot during Brazil’s game with Turkey at the 2002 World Cup.

Bryan Carrasco

Ok, technically he did get struck. However, we think there’s a rule against hitting yourself with another man’s arm?

Kaj Ennigaro

Talk about a tantrum. This baby was so upset about his team conceding a goal that he decided to wait for an opposition player to touch him before performing an oscar-winning assassination scene. Pathetic.
