Former Liverpool footballer fighting for life after stroke

Former Liverpool full-back Rigobert Song is fighting for his life after suffering a stroke.

The footballer-turned-manager, who is now 40, was rushed to hospital on Sunday evening after suffering a cerebral aneurysm. Song’s most recent footballing role has been as the manager of Chad’s national team.

Over the course of his long career, the Cameroonian footballer won an Olympic gold medal and played for Liverpool, West Ham and Charlton.

Many footballing greats and former teammates have taken to social media to wish Song a speedy recovery, including Robbie Fowler, Jamie Carragher and Song’s compatriot Samuel Eto’o.
