We all know that Turkish fans love their football, but going this far might just be a bit much. A group of fans of the Istanbul club were found trying to tunnel into the stadium with their bare hands to see their beloved team.
The fans had been unable to get tickets, which were being sold outside Schalke’s Veltins Arena stadium for around €1,000. The away section was totally sold out, and with one last desperate attempt, they tried to burrow under the perimeter fence with their hands.
According to The Guardian, Schalke’s sporting director Horst Heldt confirmed the incident after the game, which saw Galatasaray go through, so maybe all that digging in the frozen ground was worth it after all.
