Munster gave it their all at Murrayfield today against Edinburgh, but slumped to a disappointing defeat

Coach Rob Penny is citing ‘poor mental preparation’ for the loss today, as Munster fell to Edinburgh at Murrayfield by a score of 29-23.

According to The Irish Times, the Munster coach believes that mental fatigue was to blame for his team’s loss, as they played well below the level that saw them beat Leinster last week.

Mike Sherry and Casey Laulala were on the scoresheet with a try each, but a late score from Tim Visser proved to be decisive.

In a further blow, Simon Zebo could be facing a spell out with injury, as he went down and had to be carried off the field. Munster made some uncharacteristic errors all over the park, but they were certainly physical, as the battered, bloody and bruised faces of the players showed. They leave with a losing bonus point, but with plenty to think about after some uncharacteristic errors and a display that Penney himself admitted was far below what it should have been.
