Munster flanker Niall Ronan will be fit for the crucial Heineken Cup double header with Saracens next month despite suffering a nasty-looking neck injury yesterday.

The province were glad to report this morning that Ronan’s injury wasn’t as bad as had initially been feared and anyone who saw the nasty tackle on him by Jake Ball during the defeat to the Scarlets will know that those fears certainly weren’t groundless.

Ronan was stretchered off the field in Musgrave Park and taken to Cork University Hospital, where he remained overnight, and an initial x-ray taken this morning showed positive results.

The flanker subsequently had a scan today to determine the exact nature of the injury and with the results giving the Meath man the all-clear, the Meath man will be good to go for the meeting with Saracens in Thomond Park on Saturday week.

Considering the magnitude of that game and the return meeting a week later, Rob Penney needs as many bodies as possible available and the news on Ronan will come as a welcome boost to the New Zealander.
