Gordon Strachan announces Scottish squad for the upcoming match against Ireland

We cannot wait...

Eric Lalor

With only ten days to go, Gordon Strachan has announced his Scottish squad for the huge Euro qualifier with Ireland in Parkhead.

Rangers midfielder Lewis Macleod has earned his first call up to the Scotland squad. With Alan Hutton out injured, the Scots have brought in Phil Bardsley from Stoke City. Other than that, the only other change comes with the return of Celtic player Charlie Mulgrew following injury.

Strachan has done a very good job so far with Scotland, and this will be a real test for Martin O’Neill’s men, but Ireland will have a spring in their step following the last-gasp draw with Germany away from home, followed up by the demolition of Gibraltar a few days later. There is nothing about that Scottish squad which should scare Ireland, but likewise, they will feel the same about us.

Two words: Quietly. Confident.

There is going to be an amazing atmosphere on November 14th at the home of Celtic with two former managers going toe-to-toe in what is a vital European qualifier. We cannot wait.
