Would you like to see the Hardy Bucks drink, shmoke and fight their way to the Euros in Polkraine in the summer? The boys from Castletown may be about to make it happen and you can lend your support.

Earlier today, main man Eddie Durkan put the word out to his followers on Twitter, urging them to lend their support to the idea of the Hardy Bucks presenting a sideways look at the tournament on our screens over the summer by tweeting the hashtag #hardybucksdoeurope.

The campaign quickly gathered momentum and began trending in Ireland, with followers of the Boys in Green extremely excited about the prospect Eddie, Buzz, the Viper and company ploughing their way through eastern Europe later in the year.

Although the hashtag raises the possibility of an x-rated journey across the continent by the boys from Castletown, we can only assume that the content the lads have in mind would be entirely innocent, or at least nothing worse than anything they have put out there so far.

The most recent series of Hardy Bucks finished just prior to Christmas on RTE 2 and added further to the reputation the boys have steadily been building up since winning the RTE Storyland competition in 2009.

Sending the boys out to Polkraine would certainly be a refreshing take on the tournament and set RTE’s coverage apart from any other, but whether the suits at Montrose would be willing to take a risk is another matter. Still, the more people who get behind the bid, the harder it will be to ignore.

If you want to lend your support, get tweeting #hardybucksdoeurope now. We’re behind ye lads.
