Paul O’Connell was back to his brilliant best last Sunday as Munster upset the odds, and Gift Grub has paid homage in song.
By Declan Whooley
Munster have always responded when given the under-dog tag, but even the most optimistic fan would have struggled to imagine the performance put in by all in red against a strong Harlequins side. And no-one typified the Munster challenge better than Paul O’Connell.
He went from a Lions possible, to bookies favourite for the captaincy in Australia with one of the most inspirational performances of his career, and Mario Rosenstock has conjured up a song to acknowledge last weekend’s display, ably assisted by Ronan O’Gara.
ROG and Paulie were singing off the same hym sheet on Sunday and they seem to be doing so again with this number.
The chorus in particular is particularly catchy.
“I’m going to break some bones,
I’m going to rip them out of their socket,
I’m, I’m hunting, looking for a tackle,
I feel fu**ing awesome”
Here is the song that may not challenge the number one music spot in Ireland, but it’s a classic in our eyes.
