Liverpool, in case nobody told you, beat Borussia Dortmund last night.
The Reds are through to the semi-finals of the Europa League after a seven-goal thriller where centre-half Dejan Lovren nicked a winner in injury time.
Now Jurgen Klopp’s men will play tournament mainstays Villarreal in the second semi-final, which means that the first semi-final will be a showdown between Shakhtar Donetsk and last year’s champions Sevilla.
Villarreal currently sit fourth in La Liga, the highest ranked Spanish team outside of Barca, Real Madrid and Atletico.
In an echo of their recent win over Dortmund, the second leg of Liverpool’s semi-final will take place at Anfield – though Liverpool fans will surely be happy enough to take a boring one-nil if it sees them through to the final, and one game closer to Champions League qualification.
