Two of Ireland’s best fighters of recent times were at loggerheads outside of the ring last night on Twitter.

UFC fighter Conor McGregor and recently retired Irish Olympic boxing medallist Kenny Egan had a bit of a ‘communication breakdown’ last night and it all started with a tongue-in-cheek photo the Clondalkin man posted linking MMA fighting with Brokeback Mountain..
McGregor has rightfully been basking in widespread praise after his stunning UFC knock-out debut in Stockholm at the weekend, but Egan decided to poke a bit of fun at the mixed martial arts fighter when he tweeted this picture last night.
McGregor naturally was not pleased with what the Dublin boxer was suggesting and did not take kindly to the boxer’s attempt at humour.
Egan later tweeted that people needed to take a chill pill as the “protein shakes are going to the head”.
Both men are more used to settling their differences inside the ring but for now, social media will have to do!
