The past few months have not been the best for Dublin’s Conor McGregor.
After a second round submission to Nate Diaz who cancelled his holiday just to fight McGregor, the Crumlin native ended up losing his spot on UFC’s legendary UFC200 card after a succession of ploys and Facebook statuses which included announcing his retirement and then pretending he had re-confirmed the Diaz rematch with Dana White.
This was followed by pouring fuel on the social media hype surrounding a crossover fight between McGregor and boxing icon Floyd Mayweather that is, quite frankly, never going to happen.
Dana White has intimated, however, that the announcement of McGregor’s next UFC fight should be coming up soon. The President of the UFC supposedly met McGregor for dinner “last night”, a dinner which is probably still taking place as these words are being written given that California is eight hours behind.
Speaking to ESPN, White said “Lorenzo and I are having dinner with Conor McGregor, so tonight at like 10, I’ll have a lot more answers on the Conor McGregor situation. We’re in a good place with Conor and we’re looking to make his next fight. We should have that done tonight.”
Who’s it going to be?
