It’s that time of the week again – our countdown of the best five goals we’ve seen from around the world over the last few days.
5. Raul (Schalke v Wolfsburg)
A second appearance in this countdown already this season for the veteran Spaniard, who is now showing much better form than he managed in his injury- and indifference-addled final few seasons at Real Madrid. This one stands out for the delicate chipped assist by Jefferson Farfan as much for Raul’s equally delicate near-post finish.

4. Abel Hernandez (Palermo v Inter)
A nice team goal from Palermo, finished off by Uruguayan Abel Hernandez. It helped the Sicilians to a 4-3 win against stuttering giants Inter, who are now a pale and shivering wreck of a side compared to that which carried all before them under Jose Mourinho en route to the Champions League less than 18 months ago.

3. Evgeniy Zinovyev (Sibir Novosibirsk v Metallurg Yenisey)
This one isn’t technically from the weekend – the game took place in midweek – but we just had to include it here. A ball-juggling overhead kick? You have to love it.
2. Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruna v Barcelona B)
Okay, so it’s the Segunda Liga in Spain but we couldn’t let this week’s countdown go by without tipping our hat to Mexico international Andres Guardado for his halfway line heroics against Barcelona’s second string.
1. Maya Yoshida (VVV-Venlo v PSV Eindhoven)
Yoshida’s acrobatic screamer was the highlight of the Dutch league at the weekend. Not bad for a centre half, eh?
And, as a special Monday morning bonus, here’s one that didn’t count:
Ousama Assaidi (Heerenveen v Groningen):
We think Assaidi heard the whistle and knew he was offside, and that the Groningen goalkeeper didn’t try to stop him hitting the net, but who cares? Mario Balotelli could do with watching this one a few times to try to perfect his own version.
