It’s that time of the week again – our countdown of the best five goals we’ve seen from around the world over the last few days.
5. Abdelmoumene Djabou (ES Setif v Chlef)
And people say we don’t feature enough goals from the Algerian league? Here’s a Messi-like effort from 24-year-ol d Abdelmoumene Djabou. If you put us on the spot, we’d have to say that yes, this was probably the best goal in the North African league last weekend.
4. Darren Fletcher (Manchester United v Manchester City)
Just because your team is getting a historic mauling from their bitter rivals, doesn’t mean you can’t steal some of the glory by hitting the best strike of the match. Good work Darren Fletcher.
3. Ross McCormack (Leeds v Doncaster Rovers)
Forgive the low camera angle and just enjoy the fantastic build-up play that leads to an excellent finish from the in-form Scottish striker here.
2. Adam Moffat (Houston Dynamo v LA Galaxy)
Football should never be played on an NFL pitch, can we all agree on that? Despite the awful playing surface, Adam Moffat found time to rocket a goal past Robbie Keane’s side from at least 40 yards out last weekend.
1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Malaga v Real Madrid)
Finally, we have to award Cristiano Ronaldo this week’s honours with a fantastic improvised backheel volley/karate kick. After pummelling Qatari-rich Malaga in a 4-0 away victory, Ronaldo’s wonderful hat-trick showed the club’s new owners they’ll need to add a couple of zeros to their spending before coming close to a squad capable of emulating the Portuguese player’s class.
