In our wrap of the best goals from around the continent this weekend, there’s a brilliant team goal from Italy, a Spanish injury-time cracker and the Irish interest is provided by Leon Best.

5. Roque Santa Cruz (Real Betis v Barcelona)

Don’t pinch yourselves, Manchester City fans. Yes, this is Roque Santa Cruz scoring a fine goal against Barcelona. The commentator doesn’t sound too excited, mind.

4. Leon Best (Newcastle v QPR)

On the weekend talk of a Stephen Ireland return to the Ireland squad resurfaced, Leon Best did his own cause no harm with this fine touch, turn and finish to give Newcastle all three points against QPR.

3. Idir Ouali (Le Mans) vs Guingamp

We reckon this was may have been a fluke. But flukes don’t come much prettier.

2. Oscar Trejo (Sporting Gijon v Malaga)

Be honest, when you were a little boy in your back garden you usually (this was before puberty, lads) fantasised about one of two things: scoring an injury time winner, or scoring a 30-year volley cracker. Oscar Trejo did both at the weekend. You would have to be a bit of a diehard Spanish football follower to start watching Sporting Gijon-Malaga, never mind finish it, but Trejo rewarded your commitment to the cause.

1. Mirko Vucinic (Juventus v Cagliari)

Long-range thunderbolts are all well and good, but football’s a team game and we do love a good team goal. They didn’t come any better than this from Juventus at the weekend, finished off by Mirko Vucinic.
