Keith Fahey really got into the swing of things at the St. Pat’s game last night

Ireland international Keith Fahey popped into Inchicore to see his old club St. Pat’s play Shelbourne last night and he wasn’t just a quiet bystander either.

The Dubliner left Pat’s to join Birmingham City in 2008 but still retains strong ties with his old club and spending some time at home before pre-season with the Blues next season, he took a trip to Richmond Park to cast an eye over the Dublin derby with Shelbourne.

Given his high profile, Fahey could have been forgiven for keeping himself to himself but instead he immersed himself into the atmosphere at Richmond Park and even had a few bangs of a supporter’s drum at one stage.

Fahey, who cruelly missed out on the Euros due to injury, also spent plenty of time signing autographs for fans and seemed humbled when they began to belt out chants such as ‘There’s only one Keith Fahey’ and ‘Fahey from the halfway line’.

Michael D Higgins was also in attendance at Richmond Park last night for Pat’s 1-0 win, but the President was upstaged on this occasion as the Pat’s faithful delighted in welcoming back one of their own.

Fahey certainly enjoyed the experience judging by post on his Twitter page and given what’s gone on with Monaghan United and Dundalk of late, it’s nice to hear a good news story emanating from our domestic league.

Fair play Keith.
