Kevin Doyle was the big winner at the 3/FAI awards on Sunday night, collecting the Senior International Player of the Year and Goal of the Year awards.

2010 wasn’t a vintage year for the Irish soccer team, but Doyle delivered a series of impressive performances up front and was also honoured for his tremendous strike in the Euro 2012 qualifier against Andorra.

It was the culmination of a great weekend for the Wexford native, who scored the winning goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Manchester United on Saturday evening, bringing an end to United’s unbeaten Premier League run in the process.

Reading’s Shane Long captured the Young International Player of the Year; Seamus Coleman was crowned the Under-21 Player of the Year, while Gary Twigg was voted the Airtricity League Player of the Year.

Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Frank Stapleton was inducted into the hall of fame, while former Liverpool and Wales striker Ian Rush was awarded the International Personality of the year
