Kieren Fallon denied Derby ride after injuction

Kieren Fallon has been informed that he will not be allowed to ride in the Epsom Derby after a court injuction issues ban.

Kieren Fallon will not ride in Saturday’s Epsom Derby after the owners of horse Native Khan obtained an injunction to prevent him.

The top Irish jockey from Co Clare, who is a three-time winner of the prestigious race, had a court order slapped on him by the owners of the horse Native Khan.

Ibrahim Araci said Fallon had reneged on a deal to ride for him.

Fallon, who is no stranger to courtrooms in recent times,  clams it was an “innocent misunderstanding”.

Araci attempted an injuction on Friday, but the judge hearing the case, Mr Justice MacDaff, refused the request.

However, this ruling has been reversed by two Court of Appeal judges.

Fallon’s preferred mount for the race had been Recital, who will now be ridden by Pat Smullen.

“My client entered into a contract with Kieren Fallon, and Mr Fallon promised to do two things – to ride Native Khan, or if not asked to do so, not to ride a competing horse in a race where Native Khan is racing,” Araci’s lawyer told the BBC News Channel.

“The court decided he promised these two things and he broke his promise. The court decided he should keep his promise.”
