The Kilkenny hurlers are set to be without multiple All-Star winners Tommy Walsh and JJ Delaney for the rest of the Allianz League campaign.

Walsh and Delaney suffered shoulder and hamstring injuries respectively during the Cats’ defeat of Waterford yesterday and are definitely out of the crucial clash with Dublin in Croke Park next weekend.

Walsh damaged the A/C joint in his shoulder and is expected to be out for six weeks. As a result, he will likely miss the rest of the league campaign, but should be fit in time for Kilkenny’s Leinster championship semi-final against Antrim, Wexford or Laois on 11 June.

Delaney, meanwhile, damaged his hamstring and is set to be sidelined for four weeks, but should return in time for the Division One final if Kilkenny make it that far.

Brian Cody’s side are currently joint top of the table with Galway on eight points, one point ahead of Dublin in third.

Kilkenny and Dublin meet in Croke Park this Saturday and with only two games remaining, whoever wins on the day will drastically increase their chances of featuring in the Division One decider.
