Yesterday we alerted you to Manchester United’s expected revenues from last season and after the official numbers were released it turns out that the projected calculations weren’t that far off.
The club have officially announced an annual record revenue of £433.2m and a £23.9m profit for 2013/14, which is just shy of the projected figures.
Interestingly, the figures also reveal a £5.2m severance payment to former manager David Moyes and his staff. We think that, relative to the payments that Chelsea have made to their former managers, that this seems relatively small to us, probably due to clauses in his contract.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said the growth in revenues and the recent signings meant the club was looking forward to “a new chapter in our history”.
“With Louis van Gaal at the helm as manager, and the recent signing of some of the world’s leading players to further strengthen our squad, we are very excited about the future and believe it’s the start of a new chapter in the club’s history,” he said.
