His stock is fairly high right now.
Martin O’Neill has been offered a two-year deal to remain on as manager of the Irish soccer team, according to the Irish Sun.
O’Neill was offered the deal before the momentous win over Germany on Thursday night and should he accept it, he will likely oversee Ireland’s campaign to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
It would be stretching it to say that O’Neill has been an unqualified success since taking over the job in late 2013, but results have conspired in his favour of late, to the extent that qualification for the Euros next summer is certainly within Ireland’s grasp.
The Irish Sun report that Roy Keane is also likely to remain involved should O’Neill accept the contract offer, with his current deal due to expire whenever Ireland’s involvement in the Euro 2016 campaign ends.
