Giovanni Trapattoni has serious doubts over Aiden McGeady’s fitness for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers in early September.

It was initially envisaged back in June, when McGeady damaged ankle ligaments, that he would be recover in time for the Slovakia and Russia games – but Trap believes getting the 25-year-old up to match fitness in time will be a problem.

“I have spoken to Aiden and the injury is delicate,” Trap told the Mirror.

“They say it will be another two weeks. I already told Aiden that we didn’t need hiom against Croatia and just to be caeful. We need him for 2 September.”

McGeady was named in Trap’s provisional 32-man squad for the Euro 2012 games but his situation will be monitored closely in the next two weeks.
