The most recent incident occurred in Spawell last Thursday night.
Gangs of thieves in Dublin have stolen wallets, iPhones, iPads and clothing from cars while players were training in a series of raids on GAA clubs in Dublin in recent weeks.
According to the Irish Sun, gangs of car thieves have targeted GAA clubs in the capital, with St. Jude’s GAA Club in Templeogue and Faughs GAA Club in Spawell hit last Wednesday and Thursday night respectively.
The gangs, who have been linked to a spate of burglaries across Ireland, raided ten cars at Faughs GAA Club on Thursday night and nine cars in St. Jude’s GAA Club the night before, stealing iPhones, iPads, wallets and clothing belonging to players who were training at the time of the robberies.
Commenting on the incident in Templeogue, a spokesperson for St. Jude’s told the Irish Sun: “A number of cars were broken into on Wednesday night in the St Jude’s car park and phones and other valuables taken.
“We would urge members to be aware, leave nothing on show and be vigilant of any strangers hanging around the place.
“The cars were owned by hard working players who are just trying to enjoy their sport.”
The paper also quotes a source who says that the same gangs targeted GAA clubs in the run up to Christmas last year and that there’s a danger they will begin the stealing the cars themselves.
The source told the paper: “They have been rummaging through cars for valuables but it’s only a matter of time before they start stealing cars.”
