Paul O’Connell is expected to captain Ireland for the Guinness Autumn Series once he comes through today’s training session at Carton House.

The Munster lock did not train towards the end of last week, but was rehabbing over the weekend and if he comes through today’s practice session he will have more time to recuperate, with tomorrow being a rest-day.
With injury doubts over his participation, there had been a great deal of speculation over the issue of captaincy, with Jamie Heaslip and Jonathan Sexton touted as those who might take over the armband.
Coach Declan Kidney has given little away over his decision, but the Irish Examiner claims this morning that if O’Connell comes through today’s rigorous session, he will be passed fit for Saturday and will resume with the armband.
Fingers crossed the Irish Chuck Norris passes today’s test with flying colours.
