Ouch! Papiss Cissé’s winner yesterday ended costing bookies approximately £20m

13 favourites from both England and Scotland all won yesterday, costing the likes of Ladbrokes an absolute fortune.

It was a costly weekend for bookmakers as 13 favourites all claimed victories across England and Scotland.

An accumulator of all 13 favourites winning at odds of 1203/1 meant that punters went into Sunday reinvesting their winnings on Spurs, Aston Villa and Real Madrid to complete the rout.

Of course, Villa’s 4-1 reverse against Stoke will have provided some respite for bookies, but Ladbrokes’ Jessica Bridge said Saturday was still a black day in betting circles.

She said: “It never rains but it pours when favourites oblige. Punters have never had it so good, and for the third time in as many months they have hit the industry for millions upon millions.
“We can normally rely on at least one draw being a coupon buster, but thanks to Papiss Cisse’s last-minute winner we’ve been left penniless this weekend.”

The 13 favourites that all won on Saturday were…

Chelsea
Liverpool
Everton
Hull
Man City
Newcastle
Norwich
Man Utd
Aberdeen
Celtic
Inverness
Motherwell
St. Johnstone
13-fold accumulator paid 1203/1
