As we head towards the final day of the Premier League season, can Joey Barton help make you a tidy profit and ruin City’s title hopes?
The Premier League draws to a dramatic close this weekend with the two Manchester clubs battling for the title while Bolton and QPR fight for survival. That’s not to mention the fascinating race for the Champions League spots all coming to an end in a splendid Sunday of action.
At the top, league leaders Manchester City are at home to relegation-threatened QPR. No doubt many a bum will be squeaking but City are firm favourites to beat Mark Hughes’ team, who haven’t won on their travels since November.
If they do, they will almost certainly be champions but first they must tackle part-time midfielder, part-time philosopher, Joey Barton. The one-time England man was quick to put his social media hat on and reassure Twitter fans that the team are “masters of their own destiny” and City would be in for a “reality check”.
It all sounds very promising from a man who was booed off the pitch by his own supporters less than two months ago.
Paddy Power is offering 9/2 for Barton’s QPR to win or draw, getting the result they need to survive and really pissing on Balotelli’s bonfire.
If they do get anything from the Etihad expect United to be on hand to party hard in the North East.
They’ll be up in Sunderland taking on a team (with a back four of ex-United heads) who have nothing to play for and look like they’ve been on the beach for the last five weeks.
Fergie’s lads are used to fighting for titles (admittedly not with such mediocre squads) and are 4/9 to see off the Black Cats.
Decision day for Owen Coyle and Bolton
Bolton on the other hand will be doing the Poznan if City thump Rangers. Owen Coyle’s men are right in the thick of it and have the unenviable task of travelling to Stoke, needing a win and a QPR slip up to survive.
Don’t expect the ball to spend too much time on the turf and David Wheater looks value at 10/1 to score anytime in a bid to save the Trotters.
Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle are all still fighting for the Champions League spots and there are only a couple of points between the three of them.
Arsenal travel to West Brom after drawing the last three games in a row and another point, priced at 3/1, will guarantee them a top-four finish.
Spurs have arguably the easiest game at White Hart Lane against a Fulham side that tend to struggle on the road, and Paddy has got Tottenham at 4/9 to end the season with a home win.
The Toon army will be travelling to Merseyside to take on Everton knowing that they have to get three points to be in the top four mixer.
The Toffees haven’t lost in eight but Cisse and Co are 21/10 with Paddy to end that run and be in with a shout of Champions League next year, with the in-form Ben Arfa 9/1 to open the scoring.
It’s a day of unbelievable drama but if you need even more excitement, a 7-6 City win and a United 9-0 victory would result in a playoff to decide the title.
