Not a good day for the bookies.

Not a good day for the bookies.

Paddy Power have revealed they were taken to the cleaners after yesterday’s stunning All-Ireland final draw between Kilkenny and Tipperary at Croke Park.

John O’Dwyer’s wide in the final moments of injury time had bookies banging their heads off their desks, with Paddy Power admitting it’s ‘first blood to the punters’ ahead of the replay at the end of September. A ‘large six-figure sum’ was all they would reveal about the cost of the draw to their coffers.

“Normally a draw is a dream result for bookies when it comes to GAA but with the previous two finals ending in a draw punters must have felt as though the hat trick was on and weighed in. It’s first blood to the punters but thankfully we have another day to claw it back,” a spokesman said.

Paddy Power have made Kilkenny evens to win Brian Cody his 10th All-Ireland title, with Tipperary not far behind on 11-10. A draw on September 27 is priced at 8/1.

The company are also offering 9/1 on the 2015 final ending all square to make it four stalemates in a row.
