People were making the same joke after Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Watford

Bound to happen

Bound to happen.

Jürgen Norbert Klopp (yep that’s his middle name) endured his worst defeat as Liverpool manager this afternoon as Watford ran riot at Vicarage Road in a 3-0 win for the Hornets.

While all rational football fans knew that the German wasn’t going to instantly transform the club, there was renewed optimism at Anfield following a string of impressive wins and performances, notably against Chelsea and Southampton.

In recent weeks, the ‘Pool haven’t quite matched those performance levels and you may remember their recent match against West Brom when they needed a last minute equaliser from Divock Origi to rescue a point. In the aftermath of that draw against the Baggies, Klopp and his players saluted, linked hands and bowed down to the Anfield faithful- something that’s the norm after every match in the Bundesliga but usually reserved for title parades, cup wins or ‘big’ wins in England.

Naturally Twitter was quick to highlight the post-match differences between the two games.

It was a bad day at the office for Liverpool but there’s always a silver lining.
