He wants the money fight it seems…
Conor McGregor is scheduled to fight Nate Diaz at UFC 202 in the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas on August 20.
Following that fight, it seems more than likely that McGregor will face Jose Aldo in his first defence of the featherweight title… provided The Notorious feels he can make the weight cut back to 145.
But, is there a fight with Amir Khan on the horizon for the Dubliner?
Recently, Khan has stated that he’d love to fight in MMA and teased a bout with McGregor in the UFC in a recent interview with FloCombat.
“I would [fight Conor McGregor in the UFC], definitely,” Khan said. “Something like that would be massive. Even if I started to train MMA next year, I’d only be 30 years old. I could stop and train for a full year and become a good MMA fighter. It’s in our blood to fight. I’ve been fighting all my life, so for me, I don’t think it’d be a problem for me to learn and switch over to the sport.”
We have doubts about whether the transition would be as straightforward as Khan thinks, boxers have made the code switch before and struggled badly, James Toney’s fight with Randy Couture being a prime example.
However, it seems likely that Khan would put more effort than Toney into learning some of the intricacies of wrestling and jiu-jitsu.
He posted this picture to social media recently claiming his UFC training had started, would you watch a fight between Conor McGregor and Amir Khan?
