Vladimir has yet to respond.
Michael Conlan was understandably aggrieved following his controversial defeat by Vladimir Nitkin of Russia in the men’s bantamweight quarter-finals in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday.
In an explosive interview with RTÉ, Conlan tore into the powers-that-be in amateur boxing, labelling them as “cheating bastards”.
“They’re fucking cheats,” Conlan added.
“They’re paying everybody. Amateur boxing stinks from the core right to the top.”
Conlan didn’t stop there and after the fight, his first tweet was a tongue-in-cheek one to, of all people, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, posing a question many would no doubt have been asking after today’s events.
Hey Vlad @PutinRF_Eng
How much did they charge you bro?? @AIBA_Boxing #Rio2016 😘
